Renewable Energy for Africa & the Persian Gulf

The market for renewable energy in Africa and the Persian Gulf is an important growth market. European technologies for electricity generation using renewable energies are highly in demand. The climatic and geological conditions for the production of renewable energies are excellent and possibilities are almost unlimited. Alternative energies such as solar energy, biomass, wind and hydro power are increasingly used in Africa. One of the largest solar thermal power plants in the world with a capacity of 100 MW is currently being built on the Persian Gulf. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is planning to install 16 GW of photovoltaic systems and 25 GW of solar thermal power plants to satisfy one quarter of its electricity needs from solar energy by 2032. Companies from across Europe are focusing more and more on these regions which experts say have potential to become the world’s next renewable energy centre.
